Manresa, festivals and traditions
Thanks to the renovation process its festivals have undergone, Manresa has become a landmark for enthusiasts of the most popular traditions, who fill the city's streets and other splendid settings, such as L'Agulla Park, several times a year. The Festival of the Light (main winter festival) includes the so called "Fira de l'Aixada" (Axe Fair), which transforms the old centre into an innovative medieval market. The Main Annual Festival (in August) includes two major events linked to the culture of fire: the Correfoc (one of the most important in Catalonia), and the firework display in L'Agulla Park, where fifty thousand people congregate. The Mediterranean Fair for Shows with Traditional Roots fills squares and streets, theatres and marquees. Besides these events, many times a week Manresa vibrates with cultural events that make it a festival to be discovered all year round.
